The Grand Canyon offers breathtaking views no matter where you are in the national park. Enjoy all the sights by hiking at the Grand Canyon with your family or friends. There are many trails to traverse, ranging in various difficulty levels.
Here are some of the best Grand Canyon trails you can hike during your trip to Arizona.
Get a fantastic view of the Canyon during this 0.8-mile round-trip to the Cape Royal Viewpoint. The hike from the parking lot to the lookout and back is perfect for beginners. You'll have gorgeous sights of the dramatic rock formations and the Colorado River. It's the ideal place to watch the sunrise or sunset.
If you want a longer but still moderately beginner-friendly trail, try hiking the Transept Trail. It's a 4-mile round trip on an out-and-back route. You'll experience about a 100-foot increase in elevation as you walk the path. The trail is relatively easy, but there are some steep sections.
For more experienced hikers, take a trip on the South Kaibab Trail to reach Cedar Ridge. The trail is about 3.1 miles out-and-back and moderately challenging. When you get to Cedar Ridge, you'll witness the beautiful valley and landscape views.
Expert hikers will enjoy walking the challenging 6-mile, out-and-back Hermit Trail to the Dripping Springs. Along the way, you'll see the Colorado River and Eremita Mesa. Once you reach the trail's end, you'll arrive at Dripping Springs, a serene alcove where the water falls into a small pool below.
Wherever and whatever trails you hike at the Grand Canyon, you must take precautions to ensure you and your party remain safe. Here are a few tips to help you stay safe while enjoying the trails:
